We all know the usual suspects for antioxidant sources: everyone touts the anti-aging benefits of colorful fruits like pomegranates and berries, as well as leafy greens such as kale. These sources are indeed full of antioxidants – amazing substances that stop free radicals from wreaking aging cellular damage on our bodies and skin. Even more astonishing, though, is the fact that antioxidants show up in more places than you expect. Not only can you find antioxidants in ordinary houseplants for topical applications, they pop up in surprising foods that you eat every day.
Take another sip from that cup of joe. Coffee contains an antioxidant called chlorgenic acid which helps with your “bad” cholesterol levels and protects your skin cells (Stylecraze).
2. RED CURRANT

Here’s another reason to supersize your popcorn at the cinema: that bucket is packed with antioxidant polyphenols. In fact, popcorn contains a higher concentration of polyphenols than fruits and vegetables. One serving of popcorn contains 300 mg of polyphenols compared to one serving of fruit which racks up only 160 mg (Science Daily). If you hold off on the butter-flavored topping, you have a snack that’s healthier than you would have thought.
Scrambled, poached or sunny side up? Any way you serve them, eggs are full of lutein and zeaxanthin, two antioxidants that protect against UV damage that leads to lines and age spots (Today).
